November 8th, 2025

When you imagine a Portland, Maine wedding with timeless charm and effortless joy, Sam and Vinny’s celebration instantly comes to mind. Their day unfolded across two iconic Portland locations. The stunning Cathedral of Immaculate Conception for their ceremony and the modern, classic atmosphere of The Westin Portland Harborview for their reception. From beginning to end, their wedding was the perfect blend of laid-back, elegant, and deeply heartfelt.

A Ceremony Steeped in Beauty

Sam and Vinny exchanged vows inside the Cathedral, a breathtaking space filled with soaring ceilings, soft light, and emotional presence. Their calm, relaxed energy set such a beautiful tone; nothing felt rushed, everything flowed naturally, and their sincerity made every moment, big or small, feel meaningful. Their families and friends brought so much warmth to the day, filling the church with support, laughter, and genuine excitement.

Portraits at The Top of the East

After the ceremony, we headed to The Top of the East, where the energy shifted into something both fun and elegantly cinematic. With sweeping Portland skyline views as their backdrop, Sam and Vinny were effortlessly themselves—playful, connected, and fully present. Their laid-back personalities made this session a dream. The environment gave us the perfect mix of sophistication and spontaneity, creating portraits that feel classic yet full of life.

This was also the moment I focused on helping them relax into their candid photos. They had shared that they felt they might be awkward on camera, so I set the tone early with gentle prompts, natural movement, and a space where they didn’t need to “perform.” Very quickly, their genuine connection came through, and their portraits look anything but awkward—they radiate ease and authenticity.

A Warm, Joyful Celebration at The Westin

The evening reception at The Westin was filled with heartfelt toasts, lively dancing, and family who felt more like longtime friends. Their guests were some of the friendliest I’ve ever worked with, making the entire experience feel like being welcomed into someone’s inner circle rather than simply photographing an event.
