A Honeymoon Session With Heart
Some photo sessions feel instantly special, and this was one of them. Jodie and Tim traveled all the way from North Carolina to celebrate a long-awaited honeymoon trip here in beautiful Maine. After navigating an illness that delayed their original plans, they were finally able to take this trip together—and they chose to commemorate it with a couples session that matched their love for darker, moodier vibes and genuine, candid storytelling.

Starting at The Press Hotel in Portland, Maine
We began at The Press Hotel, a location that effortlessly blends historic character with an elevated, artsy aesthetic. It was the perfect backdrop for the kind of moody, intimate portraits Jodie envisioned. The dim hallways, textured walls, and soft, directional light helped set a tone that felt quiet, romantic, and deeply personal. From the start, the session had a calm rhythm—like slipping into a creative flow together.

Shared Interests, Easy Connection
Part of what made this shoot so seamless was how effortlessly we all connected. Jodie and Tim are the kind of couple whose interests—travel, live music, tattoos—align naturally with my own. That meant comfortable conversation, low-key vibes, and a session that unfolded with ease. When clients feel like friends, their comfort shows in every frame. Their laughter, the subtle glances, even the in-between moments felt honest and unposed.

Portland Head Light
From downtown Portland, we headed to one of Maine’s most iconic scenic landmarks: the Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth. The rugged coastline and dramatic skies added depth and drama to the moody look they love. There’s something timeless about photographing a couple against crashing waves and weathered cliffs—especially a couple who fully leans into the atmosphere. Jodie and Tim embraced the wind, the textures, the changing light, and every moment felt cinematic.

What Made This Session Stand Out
Jodie shared that she wanted the session to feel intentional and atmospheric—and that she trusted me to bring the vision to life. One of the things I’m proud of from this shoot was crafting the exact tone they were hoping for. I focused on creating space where they could be fully themselves while still guiding them with a clear vision. Hearing Jodie say the execution was flawless was the highlight of my day.

A Maine Honeymoon to Remember
This session was more than just a collection of portraits; it was a celebration of resilience, love, and finally getting to enjoy a trip they had been dreaming about. Maine wrapped them in all its coastal magic, and their connection brought the rest.
