Sometimes when I shoot in a new location I do a ton of research about the area and I might even visit and make a plan for myself, map a path, find spots that feel safe, but for Kat & John’s location, I couldn’t get there beforehand and I just decided to let my creative flow guide me pretty much with no direction. First, my flow led me to lunch at the taco shop. Ha. On my way over I saw this cute record store that caught my eye immediately because of the leading lines, old faded sign and just general nostalgic vibe of the storefront. Luckily, they had records outside so we didn’t even have to go in. I started the session here later that afternoon and just let these two find their natural chemistry together with some light direction. It was one of my favorite shoots I’ve done this year so far. My clients trusted me to deliver and I trusted my natural creative energy to guide me. That always produces the most authentic work.
