I was delighted to photograph Maggie & Haley’s proposal. They shared how important it was to them that their photographer was affirming of their identity and I couldn’t be happier to be that person for them. Every couple deserves to be seen and heard and their love should be celebrated with no bounds! I’m over the moon to shout about queer love from the rooftops! Congratulations to this beautiful couple. I can’t wait to watch your next chapter unfold. 👰🏻‍♀️❤️👰🏻‍♀️

Portland Head Light has become one of my favorite places for proposals, not just because it’s beautiful (because… obviously), but because there’s a surprising amount of planning that goes into making the moment feel effortless.

When couples reach out, I help with all the behind-the-scenes logistics so they can focus on what actually matters. I scout locations, send maps and reference photos, help narrow down proposal spots based on privacy, lighting, and timing, and create a plan that still leaves room for the moment to feel like your moment. I’ll often share screenshots, landmarks, and little details like “walk toward this bench” or “take the path on the left” because when nerves kick in, nobody wants to be deciphering directions.

Then on proposal day, I’m quietly nearby pretending I’m just another person enjoying the view, camera ready and trying not to look suspicious. After the proposal, we take a breath, soak it all in, and wander around Portland Head Light for portraits while the excitement is still fresh.

I know proposals can feel overwhelming to plan, but you don’t have to figure it out alone. You just have to show up and love your person. I’ll help with the rest. ❤️

There’s something really special about photographing queer love as someone who has lived it, too. Not because love itself is different in value — love is love — but because there can be layers to queer relationships that don’t always need explaining.

Sometimes it’s navigating family dynamics. Sometimes it’s wondering if a vendor is truly safe. Sometimes it’s the quiet relief of not having to translate yourselves, correct assumptions, or wonder if you’ll be fully seen. There’s a comfort in being able to simply show up as you are.

I think queer love often carries a kind of intention that I connect with deeply. There can be so much joy in finding each other, choosing each other, and building a life that feels honest and fully your own. There’s softness, resilience, excitement, and freedom all woven together in ways that can feel really powerful.

As someone who is part of this community, I don’t just see two people standing in front of me. I see the little moments. The glances. The relief. The celebration. The things that maybe don’t always need words because I’ve felt pieces of them too.

And I’ll never stop shouting queer love from the rooftops. ❤️
